Blizzard have put some new info on their upcoming MMORPG and prime Mythica rival, World of Warcraft on the official site. It's to do with quests in the game. Check it out here. (http://www.blizzard.com/wow/townhall/quests.shtml)
Performing the actual work involved for a quest has its own rewards, but in addition, a considerable experience-point bonus will usually be awarded once the character reports to the appropriate NPC (non-player character) to conclude the quest. Characters can also receive money and/or magic items in exchange for completing quests, not to mention trade-skill recipes, spells, buffs, and much more. Also, World of Warcraft features a flexible reward system: players are often able to choose from a selection of quest rewards that best suit their character or their tastes.
It seems like they've got a solid quest system planned with some interesting twists and refinements.

Lots of exp for quests, I wonder if you can complete the same quest again and again. I like the list of loot from quests including buffs, I'd hope that its a buff that lasts quite some time. :)
Quests are easy to find and acquire. Most commonly, players must simply talk to an NPC with an exclamation point (!) above his or her head. The exclamation point indicates that that particular NPC has a quest available. A question mark (?) above an NPC’s head makes it easy for players to see which NPC they must return to in order to complete their quests. There are also indicators to let players know which NPCs will have quests available in the near future. A number of other ways to activate quests exist in the game, which we'll leave to players to discover.I like the ! and ? idea. Mythica had mentioned before that they'd have some kind of indicators for their quests. Can't wait until they release this kind of info on their questing system.Quests that have been accepted appear in the player’s quest log, color coded by difficulty level. The details of each accepted quest -- including the quest’s requirements, which NPC to speak with once those requirements are satisfied, and the reward(s) that will be available – are easily accessible in the log. Quests can be abandoned at any time, and they can easily be reacquired as well. Furthermore, quests are divided up in the log by region to help players identify which ones to work toward completing depending on where they happen to be in the world.I like the color coding by difficulty, requirements list, NPC for reward. Sorting by region is cool too.
I loved the 8 screenshots showing off the quest as well. Can't wait until Mythica releases screenshots showing the UI.

Mythica's UI's still a major concern on my end... after getting burnt with the UI for previous MMORPG I played (AC2)

It's been quite some time, so I'll point people to our UI thread (http://www.mythicahq.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=302), for some good discussions on UI. Our community features thread (http://www.mythicahq.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=408&highlight=interface), for chat. Our Inventory thread (http://www.mythicahq.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=297&highlight=interface), for inventory UI.

The one thing i dont like about FFXI's quest system is no xp when you do a quest, you either get money or a reward. Maybe its because of my level, but I havent seen any xp given at completion of a quest.
I loved in DAOC, finishing a quest and getting, money, an item and exp. That was always a thrill.
I have seen how WoW has thier quest set up, it looks good, I wont deny that. They have a screenshot walkthru of a quest on thier site. Pretty cool, one you have to deliever a head that is still a live to its grave. Prett neat stuff. I also like how they have color coded NPCs, and they have signs above thier heads telling them, you either have a quest that you havent finished, or you can get a quest from them, etc. Read more here (http://www.blizzard.com/wow/townhall/quests.shtml) .
I am really excited to see what Mythica has in store for its quests. I really hope that they make them fun and exciting. I hope they make some quests require groups to get, and some solo. But with the advent of the playscape, I guess questing will be more of a single player thing, with maybe some help from a group if you want. I hope they release some info soon.

I love Blizzard and their products, and I will no doubt sample WoW, but the only thing thats keeping me back is the stuff I read on their forums..I can't understand how people can talk so much crap and still remember to breathe. Alot of negative and crass posts, most of which end up as 1 line remarks or attacks or meandering waffle. I only hope they don't all enter WoW.

HAHA yeah thier boards are out of hand, and there are just too many posters to keep them in check. You have to remember that Warcraft initially was a real time strategy that people could play online, and since those people will never see each other in real life they love to talk crap to each other. So thier boards are only fitting to the style of game it was.
I am scared to see if WoW implements PvP how things are going to go with harasment and stuff. I have a few friends that are warcraft kings and that is how they talk, they get really excited, start bashing each other, then game it out, then one loses and the other goes nuts with insults. So who knows.
Personally I like WoW, but sometimes the graphics are just a little cartoony for me, but I love FFXI, so I dont know, call me picky. I think they implemented a lot of cool things, and I think they have a great game coming out. From the video and gameplay I have seen its very fluid and has a lot to offer.
Final Fantasy XI is my next game for the long while.. they did many things right... and the look is just up my alley :)

Please, oh pleaes no mail man quests. I loved being rewarded with xp and the sort from DAoC quests, but they were so incredibly simplistic and boreing. Run here kill this, run there kill that. Take a horse to this guy and then run here kill this...come back to me and here is a hammer. I want depth and content in my quests. With the Followers system, this could be really cool. Quests could really be valuable and important to the game. Like an article I read on Mythica, you don't just do a quest or run a mission for someone or a group, you may actually go along and fight beside them. They just can't do it without your help. That sounds fun.

yeah and I like how you can tell some one will give you a quest later in the game when you are higher level because they have a silver\grey quest icon above their heads instead of a green one.
