Well FFXI and TOA both came out today. I have been watching the live streaming FFXI, and it looks pretty good. Then my friend in school just got TOA and told me its awesome and he is glad he is still playing and is going to camp a bunch of stuff this weekend. Kinda made me want to reactivate my account and play, or buy FFXI.

Anyone out there get either of these two?

In the words of Peter Griffin..."Haha Lois, he said duty (doody)!"

I'm looking to import me a copy of them thar FFXI, but only once it's confirmed I will be able to play it on a UK PC.

I'd be very interested to hear about the underwater parts of TOA? Actually any impressions would be welcome.

Well, I talked to my friend, he said its amazing. The master levels are crazy...involving 10 quests each, some need to be done solo others need to be done with 5 groups, he is really excited. He said RvR now looks completely different now that they have a new graphics engine to render it, and he said the new "artifacts" are crazy...they are weapons that level when you use them...Sounds really fun, it kinda made me want to play again :(

TOA = Trials of Ascension? I thought they were only in the beta phase.

Trials of Atlantis...the DAOC expansion number 2.

I wasn't very impressed with the COD demos. I definitely agree with BigJ's comments on Gamespy too.

What a bad game.

I wonder if Mythica will provide free expansions like the Rubies of Eventide are doing with theirs.

FFXI is decent so far.

However, problems you may of heard of already... Registration is something of a pain. Having to first register for S-E's PlayOnline service then register for the game. It becomes a hassle as the reigstration screens are clearly designed with entry on a PS2 in mind.

Not sure if it was just the first day type rush, but the initial patching took 2 hours on a cable modem. Probably due to that though as a firend who took a half day was able to patch in under an hour.

The default keyboard controls take some getting used to. For instance, movement is bound to the keypad.
