although i never really got into EQ, i have been watching EQ2 Devolpment for a while, and some Big news just came out

Players starting off in Everquest 2 begin as the commoner class. Once they reach level six they make a choice between fighter, priest, scout, mage, or artisan. Upon achieving level fifteen, players are given another choice which further specializes their character class. Finally after reaching level thirty, players make the final decision toward what class they want to play.
and here is Info on all the classes! (http://www.eqii.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?t=4532)

so which classes are you guys most interested in?

personally i like

Shadowknight Sub-class - Shadow Knights are insidious dark crusaders who use the power of evil to advance their cause. They live to inflict fear, hate, and despair upon all who cross their path.

Monk Sub-class - Monks are disciplined combatants who specialize in the martial arts. Their natural agility allows them to avoid their enemy’s blows and strike back with clean, efficient counterattacks.

Fury Sub-class - Furies harness the power of storms and control the ferocity of nature. They command the feral spirits of the wilderness to strengthen and heal their companions.

Shadowknight, pure and simple. The anti-paladin has always fascinated me, from WAY before the days of EQ. That hasn't yet changed, so I wanna go Shadowknight. Again. :)

Very interesting stuff... makes me more interested, but I can't say I find one class more interesting than another.

Defiler Sub-class - Defilers enslave the spirits of their ancestors, harvesting and corrupting their power, to use against enemies. This stolen energy can also be used to heal and boost the capabilities of the defiler’s allies.

Looks like that might be fun yep.

I love the class system in EQ2. I think it might be a little too much, because I think you can be upwards of 100+ classes, but it is still really cool. I just hope that being a really diverse class doesnt gimp a character. I know in most mmorpgs out being a "pure" class is always better than a hybrid. I think EQ2 has a lot of potential, and I was a really big fan of EQ1, so I might have to test out those waters too. Right now Mythica and EQ2 are my top 2.

After further investigation...

Berserker Sub-class - Berserkers are chaotic warriors who inflict heavy damage with all manner of weapons. Their furious attacks overwhelm their opponents, to whom they show no mercy.

Fury Sub-class - Furies harness the power of storms and control the ferocity of nature. They command the feral spirits of the wilderness to strengthen and heal their companions.

Brigand Sub-class - Brigands are bloodthirsty highwaymen who will backstab anyone who isn’t mindful of their presence. They are unpredictable wildcards who arouse fear and confusion in the hearts of their adversaries.

Assassin Sub-class - Assassins are cruel mercenaries who hunt down their prey, showing neither mercy nor compassion. They survey dark corridors for potential prey as well as hidden dangers that may be lurking ahead.

These all sound fun to me... interesting how they correlate to the Mythica classes I am interested in.

I hate this kind of system, especially starting as a "commoner." I know what class I want to play and I want to damn well play it, not spend hours and levels poncing around as something I have no interest in playing. The only time I've played a system like this that didn't really piss me off was DAoC. You got to the minimum level for your class (five, I think) really quickly, so it didn't bother me too much.

That said, it does have this:

Swashbuckler Sub-class - Swashbucklers are dashing rogues who charm their way into your confidence while secretly loosening your purse strings. Though known to brag, they are dangerously cunning and should not be underestimated.

I don't like how they made crafters into classes in their own right.

I have some concerns about this as well, if they do it like SWG it could be a very tedius job.

Swashbuckler sounds fun, but SOE always screws the rogue classes. There's zero for them to do.

Shaman classes sound good. I liked playing a barb shammy cloth in EQ.

I'd have to be a paladin I guess...I'm annoying that way.
