(JG) Split this thread as it was off topic. This was originally in the
different play styles for different patrons (http://www.mythicahq.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=1647) thread. He's replying to Eldgrim's signature.

Eldgrim, you've just become one of my closest friends... Manowar kicks some serious arse!! Anyone who likes Manowar is alright in my book.

Brothers of Metal forever!

Hell yeah!
I also noticed you said 'arse' in another thread, as opposed to '***', that's the way it's meant to be said.
I was attempting a petition earlier in Mythica's life to have them hire Manowar for the music. :D I'll probably just crank it up whenever i get into a fight in-game anyway.

Hear hear! Manowar goes on the playlist anytime the battles start. Doesn't matter what I'm doing, if it even remotely has to do with crushing skulls or general conquest, Manowar is the music behind it for me.:bgrin:

OMG, I am an old fogey. If any of those bands are considered old school rock, I'm not sure what I'm listening to. Old fogey rock, or something like that.

not the newer stuff...mostly the old. So perhaps my time is a little off. Call it,

semi-old music

closer to normal now?

In battle, it's hard to beat out Pantera. Except perhaps with Opeth. "Still Life" and "Blackwater Park" are just fantastic for gaming...

Come now for battle it's gotta be Black Sabbath, AC/DC, Led Zep, Rush, etc. Okay, I'm aging myself again. But you can see my influences.

Gotta tack one more angry song onto the battle-tunes list - "The Destruction of a Person" by Superjoint Ritual.

Pantera is another good choice, as is Megadeth... old school 80's rock and metal is the way to go (and I mean old school in a relative to todays music kinda way :P)

Love Zep, DC and Sabbath, but its just not my kinda battle music. Grew up on 70/80s Aerosmith too

Sorry but in Mythica I am going to have to go with something like Wagner's Die Walkure ;)

Taedrun

Ahh yes, anything Wagner fits nicely... just don't have enough of it to play for hours on end.... where as on the other hand I must have 10 or 11 Manowar albums. Enough to crush many a foe under my immortal might:hehe:

Ah yes, Dream Theater...seen them a few times...GREAT stuff! And after all, John Petrucci is a local boy done good, much like Steve Vai and Joe Satriani...

Hans Zimmer's "The Battle" from the Gladiator soundtrack is a nice piece for a kick arse battle too... hence the name :)

Wouldn't Dream Theater's stuff be too long for MMORPG usage? You would never get to hear the ends of the songs. :P

Halldor

Not necessarily. Depends on the fight. I've been on MMOG fights that have gone on for 20-30 MINUTES against a single mob. And don't get me started on DAoC RvR lagfests...

This might seem a little off topic, but I hear a good opportunity for developing a cool game function, I'll start a thread of it here (http://www.mythicahq.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=1760).

I'm interested in the possibility of customizable in game music, MS has started doing it with the XBox, why not on the computer?
